Our FAVOURITE place in Vietnam. Stayed 4 days in a lovely resort on the river bank. Men fishing with nets on boats outside our window. Water buffalo grazing on the other side. Dozens of white ducks being shepherded back and forth along the bank and in the water - their quacking heralding their appearance.
Had our only rain so far when it teemed for short bursts and then cleared quickly. On our market tour we were ankle deep in water. The cooking class will be a great memory. Vietnamese is delicious.
As for the shopping - most women would find this a paradise...... Shop after shop of cheap and reasonable clothing. Great tailoring opportunities. Stunning handmade lanterns. Old buildings, narrow streets all viewed from the cyclo.
The most enjoyable experience was floating our lanterns down the river as we were paddled down the river in canoe-like boats, surrounded by the night lit streets and markets.
Next time back to Hoi An.
