Day 2 The hum of Hanoi

Today was filled with exploring Hanoi's sights, sounds, smells and food!

While Mum was at mass, Gem, Will and Celie took a walk around the lake which is only a block or so away from our hotel. Cam and Omi followed a bit later. We haven't quite worked out why people are affected by Will but he seems to attract clapping, noises and stares wherever he goes!

Some pictures from the lake walk...

We are completely amazed by the traffic and what people manage to carry with them.
So fare our record is a family of 5 on a single motorbike.

Our guide met us at 11am and we walked through the streets stopping at her shop and then the fabric market.

We had lunch in a little street cafe, sitting on plastic stools, mixing our noodles into our soup broth and feeling very local! After that it was off to the Army museum followed by the art gallery.

Samples from the art gallery...

The it was off to the Temple of Literature...

We were very impressed with some of the lacquer artwork in the gallery so our guide took us to a lacquer factory where we spent up big...

We were pretty exhausted but then had more to do. Cam, Gem and Diane went to our guide's shop to get measured for some new outfits. Then it was to a yummy restaurant for dinner the. The water puppet show. We could hardly keep our eyes open.

Finally home and to bed! Today we're off to Halong Bay. Until next time, signing off for now!
